I met with some friends for lunch today and this is the 7-layer salad I took to share. It was quite delicious, as was all of the other fare we enjoyed! The company and conversation were even better!

The weather has gotten warm enough to bring out the deck chairs. At night, we bring the cushions inside so that they don't get rained on or dirty. My oldest son was rearranging them in the house and proudly declared, "I do believe I have perfected the art of couch making!" We had to laugh!

I did a little bit of late-night grocery shopping and as I left the store, I looked up and saw our beloved flag hanging overhead and couldn't help but pause as I felt a sense of patriotism.

This rose is very special to me. I received it in church for Mothers Day and I enjoyed it all day long. But near the end of the day, I received the news that something tragic had happened to another woman... something that should never, ever happen to a woman, but especially not on Mothers Day. So this flower was turned over to help another through a time of sadness and despair. I pray that her heart will heal. I am unbelievably blessed with such a rich existence.

You can only work with the photos you've got. This was the only time I snapped the iPhone. I wanted to copy down an herbal recipe from a friend's book and took a snapshot of the page instead of taking the time to write it out long hand. Unfortunately, I didn't get the book's title or author but when I do, I'll be back to give proper credit.

I have a similar shot sometime earlier this year but I couldn't help myself again. I just love how the rain looks on the windows of the birth center. This was taken in the wee hours of the morning as a hard rain moved in. This was one of the few moments in that 12-hour shift that was free. We were VERY busy!
