The Seahawks won the first round of the playoffs today!! It was an absolutely amazing game... totally exciting... a nail biter to the finish! They beat the Saints (last year's Super Bowl champs!) 41-36! Yeah! As I have several Saints fans as contacts on Facebook, I couldn't help but stop and take this picture when I saw it pop up on the television screen! GO HAWKS!!

For Christmas 2009 (or maybe it was his birthday last year), Ethan got a book called Ed Emberley's Complete Funprint Drawing Book. He had a little bit of fun with it but it quickly found its way to the bookshelf where it has lived ever since. Well he found it again and got out the inker and went to town. I think he's at a better age for it this year and has had a BLAST creating al sorts of fingerprint creatures! I have to say, I think he's talented! Now I want to get him the rest of Ed Emberley's books! This is what he drew on the way to school this morning. Yes, I'm a crazy mom... I pulled the car over to the side of the road and took a picture of it before he took it to school to share. I love that kid!

It's our friend Stephanie's birthday today! A bunch of us friends showed up to her house with a cupcake, a gift, and a loud rendition of the "Happy Birthday" song. Then we kidnapped her and took her to Menchie's for a birthday dessert. It was fun! In the Menchie's, there is a chalkboard that people can doodle on. I've actually walked in before and found messages from people I know! Stacy left a message for Stephanie on the board. I think it turned out cute!

I love this little baby bracelet. It belonged to my father. My grandmother relayed to me that this was the bracelet he wore in the hospital he was born in, in California in 1941. This is much cuter than the standard variety we give out today. I tried to do a little bit of research on the company listed on the box, Slavick's Los Angeles. I dug and dug and couldn't find too much. There were a couple of things I did discover. Apparently the company was founded in 1917 and was quite famous in Los Angeles. They were sold to Zales in 1964. I'm just glad I still have the bracelet and the box it came in!

This is a mug that belongs to someone I work with in the birth center. How appropriate for a birth center. I absolutely LOVE it. I love that it celebrates the beauty of a woman's pregnant body.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Okay... after getting a late start last year and then giving up halfway through, I've decided to give Project 365 another go this year. I have set a recurring alarm on my phone to help remind me to get a picture each and every day. Most days I don't need a reminder, but sometimes I do. Anyway... here is my first shot of the year. These are my boys and the significant thing about this photo is that it was taken at exactly at 1111 on 1/1/11!

A picture of a picture. This is my beloved Tutu. I miss her so fiercely. She would have been 85 years old if she was alive today. When I say I miss her, it's really an understatement... I can't even put it into words. She taught me SO much and yet I feel like I missed out on SO much. What I wouldn't give for even just 24 more hours with her. She's been gone for nearly 16 years. This is a picture of her as a little girl on Maui. I can't wait to be reunited with her someday!

My sweet birthday boy. This is his made-from-scratch yellow cake with cream cheese vanilla frosting. (Don't let the number of candles fool you... he simply wanted the whole box of candles on the cake. Why not?)

This is my son's cherry tree. All he wanted for his 6th birthday was a cherry tree, so we bought him one. It was no taller than the lowest branch in the photo and had just a handful of leaves. In 2-1/2 short years, it's gone crazy! I'll have to prune it this fall for sure. It's really brought us a lot of happiness watching this little tree grow so well!

This is a little bear that hangs out in my car. I have a very specific reason for buying him. One morning we went to breakfast at the Black Bear Diner and they were selling these guys. I had just come off shift at the hospital and had done the death care for a baby that was nearly exactly the size of this bear. The baby fit in the palm of my hand the way this bear did. I fell in love with that little baby. All life is sacred, regardless of how small. And that baby was no exception. I bought this bear to help me remember that always.

This is one of those cheater photos. Not taken with the camera exactly, but a screen shot on the iPhone. I was excited about this... it's the official Eclipse soundtrack and I couldn't be happier to have it... it's awesome!! Note that the date on this is June 7. I know, I know... all you Twihards know this soundtrack didn't actually release until June 8. But it was already midnight on the east coast so iTunes had it available for early download. Lucky me!
